Call Me By Your Name

Book cover Redesign

Problem

Redesign a published book cover using an interesting illustration and a non-revealing design. Pay close attention to the concept/idea, visual hierarchy, type-image relationships, scale and element relationships, color and meaning, activating negative space and craft.

Inspiration

I curated a mood board on Pinterest with illustration-driven book cover design. I was drawn to simplistic covers with meaningful iconography of the novel. The mood board consists of striking yet simplistic designs with muted color palettes.

Design Solution

I designed an elegant, simplistic book cover for André Aciman's Call Me By Your Name. I included an important motif in the story, a peach. The coloring of the peach brings together the warmer tones on the flaps and spine of the design, creating cohesion and balance within the piece. The script font throughout the design complements the hand-drawn and authentic feel of the illustration.
